If "Bell" managed to contact their Soviet allies, Woods and the team are ambushed and killed in the process, leaving Adler to be killed by "Bell". Three years after stopping Perseus's plans, one of his agents, Vikhor "Stitch" Kuzmin decided to enact his revenge on Adler for taking his eye and causing him to be imprisoned in the Gulag. The Perseus agent then ambushed Alder and captured him, and Woods was tasked by the CIA to led a rescue team to find him.

Woods was given a team that consisted of Terrell Wolf and Karla Rivas , and were tasked to rescue Adler before he was killed or gave information away.

Woods and his team arrived to help Rivas fight against Perseus troop that were led by former warlord turned Perseus agent, Kapona "Naga" Vang.

After dealing with the troops, Woods and the team found empty Nova 6 caches in a nearby village, realizing that Naga tricked them into thinking "Perseus" cared about the gas. Finding torture devices, the team comes to the conclusion that Adler was tortured and taken away by Naga while they battled his troops. The group then interrogated the remaining Perseus soldiers, and learned from them that Adler was taken to Verdansk.

Returning to Hudson, he orders Woods and his team to travel to Verdansk and rescue Adler from Stitch. On June 10th, Woods and his team managed to rescue Adler, but unbeknownst to them, Stitch had succeeded in completing his programming on the agent. Woods continued his service with the CIA on fighting against the Perseus Spy Network, as Perseus' agents were completing their task of destroying satellites to stop them from interfering with the numbers broadcast.

While investigating the destroyed satellite that landed in orbit in Algeria, Adler would secretly secure a data recorder presumably due to his programming from Stitch.

Woods was forced to battle his own men, and escaped from the station with the operative Stryker as Kitsune escaped. After the Echelon incident, Woods met with Hudson, who revealed that forensics showed that the data from the crashed satellite would have survived.

Woods then laments that Adler was the first to the satellite and that the Perseus soldiers were clean, and Hudson concludes that Adler has been compromised by the Perseus network.

He realizes that Hudson is correct since his soldiers were brainwashed at the Echelon Station, and is told by Jason to find Mason to bring Adler in. Woods would contact Mason, who would find Adler and bring him to a interrogation room similar to the one Alex was in back in the s.

Mason and Hudson succeeded in breaking Adler's brainwashing, and Woods participated in going to Verdansk with Mason, Hudson and Adler to stop Stitch and the spy network. Woods would fly their helicopter to confront Stitch, and Adler executed the Soviet after learning that Perseus had passed away a year prior from cancer.

The captain explained that after winning the Second World War, he founded Task Force Vanguard to find any remnants of the Nazis across the world. Woods did confirm Menendez' presence while demeaning Harper and shows David Mason a heart shaped pendant that Menendez left at the Vault.

Just as soon it was mission accomplished, Hudson was shot in the shoulder by a Cuban Soldier, but the shooter was immediately killed by Woods. After serious fight, Woods first spots a heavy armed attack beginning, Mason leads a counter charge and eventually jumps onto the the enemy leader's tank.

After Mason fights him, Woods finds out that it was Kravchenko that was invading Afghanistan. After an interrogation of what affiliates Kravchenko has on Menendez which can end as soon as it begins with Mason killing Kravchenko due to Reznov's influence on him or Woods kill hims after the interrogation, both are based on player choice the Mujahideen betrays the CIA and SDC revealing that they were actually working for Menendez and dumps them in the middle of nowhere, tied up and restrained.

After a few hours, a group of strangers came by to free the team and Zhao and provided them with water. Mason thought it was Reznov, but Woods denied saying that if it was, he would stick around do some explanations. The mission unfortunately went completely array when, on sight of Menendez, Woods throws a grenade into Menendez's sister's Josefina Menendez, who was severely crippled in a Warehouse fire room, ultimately killing her accidentally, putting Menendez's remaining life on a much more sinister path that would uncover in years , , and As Noriega is escorted throughout the slums, Woods becomes more and more puzzled at the situation.

But it was at Laos, during the mission " Crash Site ", Woods and the team found the shot-down Soviet cargo plane that carried Nova 6 , but were subsequently captured by Dragovich and Kravchenko's men after a firefight.

During " Payback ", Woods and Mason used the chance when they were forced to play Russian Roulette by the Viet Cong to stage their escape. They then proceed to take a Hind from Soviet forces, and destroy several supply stops for North Vietnamese forces along the way to Kravchenko's compound. In the final part of the mission when Woods and Mason are attempting to kill Kravchenko in his office, Mason was brutally beaten when Woods, sneaking up behind Kravchenko, stabs Kravchenko in the back.

At his last breath, Kravchenko pulls a string attached to the pins of the grenade belt strapped to his body. Thinking quickly, Woods tackles Kravchenko out of the window, apparently sacrificing himself to save Mason as the grenades explode. Woods is presumed dead by everyone, including Mason and later by Hudson and Weaver during their interrogation of him.

In reality, both Frank Woods and Lev Kravchenko survived their confrontation; Woods managed to get Kravchenko's grenade belt loose and used the loading bay next to the window to get the grenade belt over it, using it as a "Sump" so the wall can absorb the grenade and create little damage to Woods. After returning from a mission in Kiev with Mason, Woods accompanies Bell in an infiltration into a secret Spetsnaz training facility, where the two discover intelligence regarding Operation Greenlight, a secret contingency plan by the United States Government to detonate neutron bombs all across major European cities in order to deny the Soviet Union from claiming them.

Returning from the mission, an enraged Woods punches Hudson while demanding answers about Greenlight's nature. While his distrust for Hudson grows further, he continues to work with the team regardless on finding Perseus.

Woods and Mason are later deployed to Dragovich's Yamantau base in order to search for a mainframe containing the location of all remaining sleeper agents. Though they succeed in recovering the mainframe, Perseus has managed to wipe out the data, forcing Adler and Bell to go undercover in the Lubyanka Building in order to find the intel. In the midst of this operation, Woods and Mason are also deployed on two separate missions to eliminate two of Perseus's top ranking officers, Robert Aldrich and Vadim Rudnik.

Following an unsuccessful operation in Cuba, an injured Bell is taken back to the CIA safehouse in Berlin, where they are interrogated by Adler, leading to their real identity as Perseus's agent revealed. Bell can either tell the truth to Adler about Perseus's plan, or lie and trick them into chasing a false lead.

In both options, Woods participates in the final mission. Despite knowing of their past and what Adler had just done to them, "Bell" states that Perseus is operating on the Solovetsky Islands.

Bell didn't radio Soviet troops to ambush Adler's group. Angry, Adler executed Bell leaving their body for Perseus to find as the team left the facility with disappointment.

With no one stopping him, Perseus detonated the Greenlight arsenal. With Europe in chaos, President Reagan learned that documents related to Operation Greenlight were leaked anonymously, but seemingly by Perseus, showing the nukes were made by the United States and destroying their reputation around the world. Reagan ordered that anything related to the operation should be erased forever as the Berlin safehouse was burned down by Hudson and the CIA.

During planning, Bell radios the Soviet Base to plan for an ambush. On March 15, at Duga, the team berated Bell for lying to them. Adler was disappointed in Bell due to how much faith he had in them. Bell then signaled the ambush, in which they were briefly knocked out by an RPG but later regained consciousness and is helped up by a Soviet officer wearing a gas mask.

Bell then proceeded to execute Mason, Woods and possibly either Park or Lazar. After most of the team was killed, Bell followed the officer into a building while the other Soviets wipe out the remaining American troops. The Soviet told Bell that Adler fled into the building. They managed to find Adler who was fatally wounded. Adler asked Bell to hand him his lighter so he can light a cigarette one last time. Whether Bell chose to or not, Adler was killed by them and the officer revealed his identity as Perseus.

Bell, now reunited with Perseus, was allowed to personally order the Greenlight nuclear arsenal's detonation.

The two discussed their plans for the future of a Greater Russia and left Duga together. Upon discovering a cache of Nova-6, the squad is ambushed by Stitch and his men, who successfully capture Adler, while the rest manage to escape. After assisting Karla Rivas in fighting off Perseus's troops, lead by Kapano "Naga" Vang , the squad heads into the nearby village, where they find fake Nova-6 caches and torture devices, indicating what Adler might have gone through.

The team interrogates the remaining survivors of Naga's men, going as far as killing them, and learns that Adler has been transported to Verdansk. On June 10, , Woods finally located Adler in Verdansk and rescued him, killing several of Perseus' men in the process. Ten days later, Woods accompanied Adler, Park, Bulldozer and newcomer Jabari Salah to investigate a satellite crash site in Algeria, after they were de-orbited from space.
