Who is zain ul abideen

Imam had so much control over his emotions that he kept quiet. When different revolutionary parties rose to avenge the blood of Imam Husayn, he wisely kept aloof from them whose uprisings he deemed untimely.

But the Imam was so cautious that his outward appearance gave the impression that he was indifferent, so much so that the cruel Government could not implicate him of any subversion. Times were hard in Madina for the family of the Prophet. He was the Imam of the time and it was his duty to spread guidance to the people.

But how he would do that when a single word in favor of the Ahlul Bayt would have meant certain death. No one dared to say that he followed the family of the Prophet. The Imam survived with the sheer will power and providence. He used to go to the mosque of the Prophet and sometimes prayed there all night. These were special prayers in the shape of supplications with great significance than mere ritual.

These prayers were memorized by his companions, written down by his two sons, Mohammad and Zaid. Mohammad became the 5th Imam after the death of his father while Zaid rose against the rulers of his time and was martyred in Kufa.

Several copies of the book were made and distributed among the followers. With these supplications Imam taught his followers the relationship between God and the people.

In ordinary language it is not possible to enhance the knowledge of God. All vanity or ego disappears. All thoughts of self indulgence vanish. He relates himself with his creator in all humility and sublime self. His true self awakens which only exists to help others for they are all creatures of God.

Emotions that were attached to his own Self disappear. He feels alone in the wide world. His only hope rests with his creator. God alone gives him hope and meaning of existence on earth. Side by side these supplications also gave the human race their Rights and duties with each other. He was seen going during the darkness of the night with a sack full of bread for the hungry people of the city. Once a man who claimed to be a friend of our 4th Imam, Imam Zainul Abideen as came to him and told him that so and so had been saying horrible things about him.

Imam Zainul Abideen as replied that he had not heard anything and would not have if the man had not told him. Imam Zainul Abideen as then continued that the person who had said the horrible things was as if he had shot an arrow and missed the target but the man who had told him was as if he had picked up the fallen arrow and hit the target with it.

In the time of Prophet Musa as , once there was a severe drought. For months there had been no rain. The people prayed and prayed but no rain came. When Prophet Musa as went to mount Sinai to pray, Allah revealed to him that amongst his people there was someone who spreading scandal and because of this person Allah had not let it rain.

Prophet Musa as asked Allah who this person was so that he could tell him off for what he had done. Allah replied that did Prophet Musa as want Him to do what He had forbidden for others. Moral: Do not talk about other people Gheebat Backbiting when they are not there even if what you say is true.

Our 4th Imam, Imam Zainul Abideen as always remembered the saying of the Prophet Mohammed pbuh : that if a Muslim did not think of the needs of his Muslim brothers then he was not a Muslim. This is why when it was dark in the night and all the people were sleeping, Imam Zainul Abideen as would get up, put some food in a sack and carry it on his shoulders to the houses of the poor people.

When Imam Zainul Abideen as went out at night it was dark and everyone will be sleeping but Imam Zainul Abideen as would cover his face just in case anyone was up, so that no one could recognize him. Imam Zainul Abideen as looked after about families like this without them even knowing who it was that was helping them. I am the one whose back is weighed down by mistakes!

I am the one whose lifetime has been consumed by sins! I am the one who — with his ignorance — disobeyed You, while You did not deserve that from him! Or would You forgive the one who cries to You, such that I should hurry to cry? Or would You pardon the one who smears his face in the dirt out of humility before You? Or would You free from need the one who complains to You of his poverty, with confidence in You?

The fourth infallible Imam is also known to have written a comprehensive treatise on rights. It was during the reign of Hisham — yes, the politician from the anecdote — that the Imam was assassinated. Muhammad Rizvi. However, in the same vein as his predecessors regarding the Hashimite clan, the Caliph Abd al-Malik also kept a watch eye on the Imam and his family. He used to call the Imam periodically to his court in Damascus.

Walid was also a tyrant 'in his own ways. For the next ten years of his rule, he maintained the tradition of his predecessors and did not spare the Imam from his abuse. When he decreed that the Prophefs mosque at Madinah be enlarged the contiguous grounds were obtained by evicting the Hashimites from their homes without compensation. The few devout believers that survived the relentless persecution of the rules of the time were grieved at the amount of abuse thrown at the Imam.

Once some one taunted the Imam while he was heading to Makkah for Haj, and said, "You have chosen the relative ease of the Haj in favor of the difficulty of Jihad. He managed to convey the lessons of the belief and the practice of Islam by a unique medium. He did this through prayers and supplications. An elegant English translation of this book is now available. He was buried in the graveyard of Jannat ul-Baqic. Before his death, the Imam called his son Muhammad and entrusted the responsibility of the Imamate to him.

Although his son Muhammad al-Baqir fulfilled the needs of the believers by carrying out the functions of his assignment with spectacular brilliance, the painful death of his father left a void in the lives of his companions. People remembered the Imam for his, forbearance, piety, patience, and knowledge, and for the sufferings he had to endure throughout his life.

His aunt Zainab, the sister of Imam Husain, shared the life and suffering of the Imam. Together they had turned the tide of aggression into a lasting lesson for humanity. Whereas Imam Husain had laid down his own life along with that of his beloved family and friends in the desert of Karbala, Imam Ali ibn al-Husain and his aunt Zainab binte Ali ibne Abi Talib completed the vital mission of disseminating the Truth to the ignorant and confused nation of the Muslims and their rulers.

Both names denote to his constant prostration in prayers. The book contains fifty-four supplications and fourteen addenda , and fifteen munajat whispered prayers. Many supplications were handed down from the Imam and carried by oral tradition from generation to generation. These were collected in later times by researchers and added to the written works. They are called the Second Sahifa, through to the Fifth Sahifa. Only the authoritative chain of traditions was used for the addenda in' the subsequent Sahifas.

The fifteen munajat were appended by Allama Muhammad Baqir Majlisi d. II10 AH. The Sahifa was updated with addenda by various authorities in the same era as Allama Majlisi. In Islam, supplications have a pivotal role in all forms of prayers. The supplicant first offers his prayer to Allah, and then spreads his hands to seek His bounty and benevolence.
