Does anyone like good and plenty

Though the company has changed hands a few times and even moved factories at least three different locations that I know of , the packaging has stayed pretty much the same. I found this video on YouTube of an old commercial:. These sorts of ads are probably not going to be around any longer, advertising candy to children is going away.

Though candy offers empty calories, it does have some highlights. Many boxes were also pretty versatile And actually renders them kind of gross. I like Justborn candies, but Good and Fruity had its own identity. Well, pink and white. Very thorough! I used to buy big boxes of them all through high school in the late 80s; sometime around my middle school years, they revised the formula to both flavor the inner chewy bits and make them a bit more tender.

Unfortunately, for some reason in the early s they switched the flavorings, making them taste a lot more like jelly beans and adding grape to the lineup. I stopped buying them, and they went off the market a year or two later.

Actually, is there any chance that they are still produced outside the US? Australia or Germany, maybe? Well, this is interesting: someone on Flickr is claiming to have found Good and Fruitys in production again. If the photo is to be believed, though, it appears they are the jellybeany flavors…. I am in a digital art class right now, and we are doing a candy wrapper project in Adobe Illustrator.

It is driving me nuts. Anyone know what the font is? The old logo uses some old condensed serifed font which would probably be hard to find unless you have access to old typography books and are willing to scan, then cut and paste.

The new logo looks like a font from the 60s or 70s. Cable Heavy has one like that, but is a bit too bold if there is a Cable Medium, that might be closer and does not have the rounded corners of the logo font. It may have been a custom-design font. Black licorice is one of those things that people either love or hate. I am in the love category. My dad always ate it when I was growing up and I took to it right away. They did not last long. Help us settle an argument. I say there is no difference.

My wife insists otherwise. There are an equal number of each on the box. My Pastor wants to know if you sell any candy bars that can be sold as a Fund Raiser. Repectfully, Donna. I think the two together just get too overwhelmingly sweet. I bought some good and plenty on a trip to the states recently. Is there anywhere in Canada that carries this Candy???

Its my fav!! You can get Good n Plenty at a few drugstores, like London Drugs. Also have seen Good n Fruity. Am I crazy? They were my favorite! And if you eat, say, half a box, expect some diahhrea. During Chemo, I lost all taste in my mouth. I was hooked all over again. Now my sister and I put it on our christmas list each year to celebrate! Well to my surprise she loved them too. I don't like black licorice. I don't like "real" black licorice either the stronger stuff rarely seen in the US.

I don't like stuff flavored with anise like ouzo. Like fennel in low concentrations. I also like good and fruities, but then again, who wouldn't? They're basically tube-shaped Skittles. I am pissed that this thread reminded me of Mr Melon, Alexander the Grape, and those super racist Cherry candys. Good and plenty's are fine if you like black licorice. If you don't PS: I like them and am under 80, so there. They're like Candy Corn for me. I could eat them when I was really young, but now I think they taste like shit.

I've heard of 'em, but I don't think I've actually ever had them or even seen them in person. Just don't ever eat the Starburst candy corn. So gross. Also they are a great way to make friends with old people, and forum moderators but also sometimes enemies! There is nothing wrong with Candy Corn or Mellowcreme Pumpkins. Never let anyone tell you different.

Perhaps the best argument against Good and Plenty is that it isn't even carried in normal stores, or really any place that has dignity or self-respect. You have to go to some place like Michael's where candy doesn't even really belong and its very existence confuses you when you see it, and you'll find the Good and Plenty alongside other sub-candy garbage like Cherry Mash, Bit-O-Honey, Circus Peanuts, and blatant knockoffs of better candies.

All these "candies" are perpetually on sale because they have to be, yet fail to be a good value at any price point. Avoid at all costs. Mario capsules, and due to the incredibly crappy candies that had existed up until that point, the sales came rolling in.

Over the next years Good and Plenty surfed the waves of candy commerce, floating from one candy company to the next. Eventually, as so many independent American candies inevitably do, it was sucked into the gaping, boneless maw that is the Hersheys company. There it currently resides, presumably strapped into a suspended animation pod, having its life force slowly sucked out by the Hershey Overmind. So what do Good and Plenties taste like? And not fakey licorice, but pretty genuine licorice with a nice, refreshing anise flavor.

The other major flavor is molasses, which complements the licorice perfectly, enhancing it in the beginning of each bite and then taking over at the end to give a thick, almost iron, molasses aftertaste. Definitely tastes better than grape bleach, at least good enough that I can't stop munching on them while I'm writing this review. So kudos Good and Plenty, kudos. The texture is even more unexpected. But the reality is more like a stale Twizzler covered in a slightly crunchy sugary shell.

You bite down and, for just a second, it seems like there's absolutely no way you're ever going to be able to chew the damn thing. The candy is just too hard. Then, just as suddenly, it gives a little in your mouth and starts to break down, and next thing you know its chewy like a Twizzler. Also like a Twizzler, it just disappears. But in your heart of hearts you know that you didn't swallow it at all, the Good and Plenty just vanished.

The specific taste and texture of the candy is as good as it was unexpected. But what really shines about Good and Plenty is the sense that your eating a part of history. Literally eating history, like each Good and Plenty was made in and left to dry until today.
