How much mp5 is shard of woe
Comment by Jevay To clarify, I didn't do the math but even with the nerf of this trinket for arcane mages, it should still be one of the very best ones. It's still a significant decrease of mana costs even for arcane mages. Comment by docfrance Should be called the Shard of Woah! Comment by NightmareMJ I don't see this question asked here.
If a spell has a base cost of less than , does this make it free to cast though granted only shadow arcane and frost spells have a such a low cost to my knowledge? I ask because a few spells cost a little over mana so this is curious if it does indeed make them free casts.
Comment by mp5? Easy way to figure out mp5 value is that this essentially gives mana every time a spell is cast yea, a small oversimplification I will address later. So basically, to figure out the average mp5 worth of this trinket, all one needs to do is consider how many spells a healer casts every 5 seconds.
Of course, priests and druids have spells that have 1 second gcds, and haste also lowers cast times below 1. However priests and druids, as well as pallies, arent casting spells that cost mana all the time. Holy priests are generally not spamming, holy, as well as disc depending on spec, is getting surge of light procs, disc is gettin a free spell every 45 or less seconds from inner focus, druids are getting omen of clarity procs, particularly during tree of life, and pallies are healing with holy power here and there.
Also, any phase in the fight where nothing is happening, ie a transition phase, or of course if no healing is necessary, thats even more time you're not getting mana from this trinket. You can actually change you're healing style to suit this trinket, ie spam more cheap heals when possible, increasing the number of spells cast per fight.
So maybe you get mp5, on average from this trinket. Probs still BiS, unless mana is never an issue, which probably means you're doing it wrong or massively outgear the content. This shouldn't be a different of more than mp5 in most cases, and really only for priests, shamans losing 60ish mp5. TL;DR: more like mp5. Comment by mukunda Quick reminder that this drops from the last boss in the game Who cares if you give it to a mage or a healer, there's no more content to down.
Comment by Furydeath As with the one post for the new arcane mages in 4. Comment by paiway If your raid is capable of getting this, chances are you won't need Wowhead comments to give you advice on loot distribution. Comment by It only reduces the cost of your spell by if you're a dps bro. Other guy had it right. Comment by Your math is grossly wrong.
You're not taking the nerfed mana reduction for arcane spells halved reduction for arcane spells into account. See blue post. So, Intellect is very much preferred to spirit as it will help a lot more, and in some fights outweighs spirit even for longevity of mana because the mana pool size is greater than the potenetial to regen lost mana. Throughput Trinkets These are the trinkets that maximise the actual power of your spells, whether due to proccing extra heals, higher spellpower, intellect or whatever.
They generally are not as good for longevity of mana or for mana regeneration, though some of them are hybrids that are weighted towards throughput but may have procs or whatnot that increase mana regen or similar.
Regen Trinkets Generally these trinkets will aid you in mana conservation in a fight. They may have spirit, proc a lump of mana etc. Usually they will not increase your throughput as much as the previous trinkets, but as with the throughput trinkets, some are hybrids that are weighted more towards regen.
So, this is just a basic rundown of the options available to us Resto Druids at the moment, I would recommend running with one of each for utility if unless you are having either very bad mana issues in which case 2 regen or none at all stack 2 throughput. The conversation started with an observation and question regarding some trends he was noticing in the community and trying to work out what they mean. This befuddles me because Hamlet said spirit generally gives around as much MP5 as Int, but gives no mana pool increase and no throughput gain at all, so is rather useless. In response to his questions, there have been two posters who have offered some thoughts. One who devalued spirit, and one who did not.
Both of which were quite interesting to see. The first commenter was Affinity , who is a 25 man raider working on Heroic Ragnaros. Mostly I am doing this for Heroic Rag, but overall it has worked well for other fights such as Beth when you take a more conservative mana approach to the encounter.
The best suggestion is to do what you feel comfortable with, and tweak it as you go. You can slowly reforge spirit off, or you can do it all in one chunk and pull some spirit back in if you feel you absolutely need the regen. You can definitely reforge out of spirit even without a Shard of Woe, you just have to be a lot more careful when doing so.
A little bit later in the thread, he comments on how his mana has been working through the T12 content after his changes:. Mana gets a tad tight but I have made it to p4 with full mana, an innervate off CD, and a free conc pot.
You can do it without negatively affecting your healing, but it requires fairly tight mana management to pull off. Now, on the flip side of the coin, Gamon , a 10 man raider working on Heroic Ragnaros, takes the opposite view of spirit, where he states he found continuing to stack spirit, even at the higher levels netted more favorable results for him — even losing a decent bit of mastery.
I dropped 8. Pre-hotting is a must for rag 10 man, and it sure helps on domo. I did start reforging spirit to reach my haste breakpoints once I hit about spirit, but I was also very conservative in doing so. I found I was very nervous to let go of something that seemed so important to maintaining my precious blue bar. However, this past week when I picked up my 4 T12 to play around with, I lost almost spirit on my gloves. A couple of weeks ago, I picked up the cloak from Sinestra — which also lacks spirit.
And before that I had opted to reforge the spirit on my helm into haste and hold onto the mastery. And you know what? I found that I could heal about the same way as I did before. Which of course, has me now wondering if I might be able to drop more spirit.
The amount of spirit you need to feel comfortable will likely depend on your healing style and the other members of your healing team. And even to an extent, the level on content that you are working. I, personally, intend to toy around with it some from both angles and see what yields the best results for me. But I am curious what other people think about the possibility of dropping spirit in favor of other throughput stats.
You'll aim for higher numbers later Haste rating. I currently reforge all my Mastery to Crit after I have my Haste soft cap. Enchants and Gems helps massively! Even if you do some older cheap ones on your crap pieces. I hope some of this will help you. Its all that I can think of now.
You are welcome to pm me if you want to chat. GL HF. Last edited: Dec 22, Thanks a lot for all the info. Will have to get more spirit, was going for int more.
Joined Dec 23, Messages Intellect actually is an effective regen stat for druids. Not to say that spirit is unimportant I don't use any items without spirit at all but intellect just scales much better. Also don't go into heroics unenchanted without empty gem slots and expect to find it easy - put on base line or WOTLK enchants and some green gems and it makes a significant difference. Some additional advice sorry if I am repeating what has been said above - I use the exact same spec as Snowwar linked - I think its a nice all round spec for heroics and the early boss fights and its pretty mana efficient.
If you don't know the specific fight then ask in party chat if somebody could explain it quickly. If you do know the fight then ask if everybody does know the fight and explain if need be.
Afaik the only druid ability that affects spirit is meditation and thats a base line ability built into the spec. You might be thinking of druid talents pre Cataclysm and even then most people recommended stacking intellect. Keep in mind base regen is calculated from intellect as well as spirit and in addition resto druid mana regen is also based off revitalize, replenishment and innervate - all of which scale with our max mana pool.
Regardless I am not advocating ignoring spirit - all resto druid leather gear has plenty of spirit and you should avoid items without spirit at all - I just recommend gemming and enchanting for intellect as opposed to spirit because it scales better. Also have you done any heroics as a druid healer or as any form of healer? Imo the difficulties come down to a lot more then not getting mp5. Guys are learning new rotations and having to select different abilities.
People are queuing for heroics at absolute minimum gear required and you're ending up in very undergeared groups. Loads of people don't know all the heroic strats just yet and are dieing or taking unnecessary damage.
